The Challenge:

The Arab Thought Foundation (ATF) main challenge was to publish online the wide range of resources they have internally to the public. The main challenge was that the content is unstructured and is being produced on daily basis from 6 different sources. ATF had 3 main conferences each year. Each conference session produces articles and comments. These articles need to be indexed, stored and published as media kits to the press. On the other hand ATF had a magazine called Hewar Al Arab and needs to archive and index the old paper magazines to become searchable.

ATF had different types of content. Movie files that was given by Al Arabiyah TV channel for the shared program with ATF (Hewar Al Arab). The different types of content made it hard for any system to manage such a diversity of content types.

ATF could not publish all the material on one portal because each conference or program was presented with different sponsors. So the main solution was to build a public website for each program and conference.

The programs and conferences were managed by non-technical project managers and PR executives. So the administration needs to be as easy as possible for those users.

The Solution:

Ethos build up a content repository. All types of content was stored and automatically indexed. Different portals were quickly built using Ethos Multi-site website content management server. Security and privileges set with a single sign-on across all the portals to make it easy for administrators and partners to use the system. Even Outlook web access was integrated to create a on stop screen to manage work from Ethos portal.

Archived documents were indexed by advanced document imaging tools and stored inside the system ready for publishing. Videos stored, cropped and compressed for web publishing through Ethos multi-media suite. People now can see them through online players embedded in Ethos Media Suite.

Ethos Document manager helped publishing the conferences papers online directly after the conference sessions and thus decreased the pressure of printing and distribution on project managers.
